Connections: A Design that Facilitates Communication and Exploration

A Unique and Interactive Residence Designed by Wei Ke Lu - JW Interior Design

Wei Ke Lu - JW Interior Design has created a truly exceptional residence with their latest project, Connections. This design aims to foster communication and connection within the family by establishing a space that promotes transparency and interaction. Inspired by the rapid growth of technology and its impact on our lives, the designer recognizes the need to adapt our living spaces to accommodate these changes.

The uniqueness of Connections lies in its ability to create a dynamic and interactive environment specifically designed for preschool children. The design team drew inspiration from children's perception and interactive nature when they are in touch with their surroundings. The space incorporates pure flowing lines and contrasting colors to stimulate the senses and trigger children's instincts for exploration.

The realization of Connections involved the use of various materials and technologies. An iron frame provides the structure, while woodworks and spray painting add warmth and character to the space. Glasses, marble, wallpapers, and LED light tubes were strategically incorporated to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.

Connections offers a range of functional spaces within its approximately 22 square feet area. The layout includes an entrance, dining room, living room, kitchen, multifunctional study, master bedroom, sub-master bedroom, and two bathrooms. Each space is thoughtfully designed to maximize efficiency and create a harmonious flow throughout the residence.

Wei Ke Lu - JW Interior Design has successfully captured the essence of Connections through a mix and match of modern design elements and a touch of classic elegance. The use of iron parts adds a contemporary touch, while the mirror with flow marks, veneers, and special wallpapers create a visual perception of light classic. The aquamarine-colored wallpapers, in particular, add a sense of classical elegance to the overall design.

One of the design challenges faced by the team was the limited space of the sub bathroom in the private domain. To overcome this, they arranged a sofa bed and a desk with a suspension cabinet design. Customized furniture and integrated cabinets were utilized to maximize the available space and create a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Connections was completed in Banqiao, New Taipei City, Taiwan, at the end of March 2020. The project showcases the designer's commitment to humanistic design principles and their ability to create spaces that meet the needs and expectations of their clients. The attention to detail, use of materials, and thoughtful arrangement of spaces reflect the extensive research and creative problem-solving undertaken by the design team.

Connections has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate ingenuity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.
